CHUCKMA!

OKLAHOMA CITY METRO

CHICKASAW COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Welcome to the Official Web Site of the Oklahoma City Metro Chickasaw Tribal Council . Please come join our community for fellowship and culture.

We usually meet on the first Tuesday of every Month, but the August meeting will be on Tuesday, August 12. It will be our annual election night so we hope that everyone will attend. We will have our usual pot luck dinner at 6:00 p.m., followed by the business meeting at 7:00 p.m.

Please consider supporting your Council by serving as an officer or council member at large. Come to the August meeting prepared to throw your hat in the ring. (Or at least talk a fellow Chickasaw into it.)

Please check the Events page for news about our annual summer picnic. We have reached the fire code's occupancy limit for the South Lakes Center so we cannot accept any new reservations.

Have you registered to vote? We will have Oklahoma Voter Registration Application Forms at the meeting. All you have to do to register to vote, to change your voting address or your name, or to change your party affiliation is to fill out this form and mail it to the Election Board. You can also get the forms at county election board offices, tag agencies, public libraries, post offices, and the State Election Board. You can also download the form from the State Election Board's web site, which is www.elections.state.ok.us.

At the Listening Conference I asked Governor Anoatubby if he would pose for a picture with us, which he graciously did. I then asked him to visit our web site, so if you are, Governor, here you are. Hohme!

The Chickasaw Nation now has a toll free number that you can call for information and help when you do not know whom to contact. The number is 1-866-466-1481. Also, former chairperson Linda Giles is now the Resource Manager of the Nation's OKC Outreach Office here in the building. If you need info or have a problem, call her at (405) 767-8971, cell 219-2854, fax 767-8968, or e-mail her at Linda.Giles@chickasaw.net.

»»»»»» Linda has informed us that she has the forms in her office to get vouchers for the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program. They are for the purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables during the months of May to November. We now have vendors that will accept them at the OSU, Bethany and Edmond Farmers markets. You can e-mail or call her and she will mail them to you, or you can pick them up at her office. This is worth looking into because it provides $100.00 in vouchers to Chickasaw citizens at least 55 years of age. Non-Indians age 60 and older living in a Native American household are also eligible for $50.00 if they meet certain income limits.

Some flyers and documents on this web site require the Adobe Reader. If your computer does not have it you can download it by clicking on the Adobe logo below.
